Gary Adkins brings over 20 years of operations management experience in the telecommunications industry, as well as extensive experience in organisational effectiveness, re-engineering and restructuring initiatives within large-scale organisations such as AT&T, Kaiser Permanente Healthcare, Avaya Communications and Lucent Technologies. In recent years, he has focused on helping companies achieve organisational effectiveness through research, consulting, coaching and education.
Gary moved rapidly into a series of senior management positions at AT&T. He had national responsibilities for reengineering the company from a regulated monopoly to a competitive telecommunications corporation. He designed and implemented AT&T’s “stop the line” network reliability assurance initiative, the company’s first diversity management and cultural change initiatives, communications processes, TQM process management, and executive coaching. He then launched AT&T’s Network Management Center, educating clients, employees and corporate executives.
Later Gary founded The Global Diversity Institute, a non-profit management research institute geared to issues of organisational vitality and diversity, where he still serves as executive director responsible for programming and content development. He holds an MA in Political Science, Social and Political Thought from York University, Toronto, and has consulting certificates for diversity management, dialogue, organisational development and total quality management.
