EU's 2004 Water Facility initiative for the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries.

Early in 2004 the European Union (EU) launched a €500 million Water Facility for the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries - the single biggest EU allocation ever for water and sanitation projects. The ACP-EU Water Facility reflects the commitment of the EU to enhancing the lives of people on many continents by bringing them the essentials of a decent life – safe drinking water supplies and reliable sanitation.

This combined initiative by the European Union and 77 states of the African, Caribbean and Pacific community is a step in the process of meeting the Millennium Development Goals and the objectives of the World Summit for Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2006.
